Infrared Rotisserie Replacement Burner installation instructions and tutorial video:

When the Jade Corporation was manufacturing Dynasty barbecues grills and Jenn Air appliances, these brand names became famous for longevity determined by intelligent design and high quality fabrication materials.   When the Jade Corporation stopped doing business the brand names were sold and other barbecues were given these names as a way of disguising the actual manufacturers of the appliances and barbecues.   The actual barbecue grills manufactured by the Jade Corporation were branded Dynasty which were extraordinarily well fabricated for their time.  Thousands and thousands of these original Dynasty bbq grills are still in use today two decades after Jade stopped manufacturing the appliances — and the replacement parts.

We still have the responsibility of providing barbecue grill replacement parts so we have experimented with a wide array of grill parts from other brands and models of barbecue as a means of replacing control valves, ignition assemblies, burners, knobs, and in this instance the infrared rotisserie back burner.

This Dynasty barbecue grill model has a back wall that is completely removable with a few bolts which allows us beautiful access to the inner infrared rotisserie burner and the gas line connection to the burner.

From inside the barbeque we can see this particular rotisserie burner has not aged well.   Our sample grill comes from a condominium community and public-use appliances rarely get treated as well as a BBQ grill that has been adopted by a family.   When we took in this orphan the lower H burners still burned great but it does not appear anyone ever thought about using the infrared burner!

Once the back wall has been removed we can easily see the infrared rotisserie burner is bolted through the back wall of the Dynasty gas grill.    On the far right side, the corrugated stainless steel gas hose is anchored to the infrared burner with a multi-threaded elbow attachment.   The elbow attaches the gas line to the infrared rotisserie burner with a gas orifice installed inside the burner.

Although we will find replacing the burner a lot easier when the gas line connection and the orifice elbow can be salvaged and attached to the new infrared rotisserie burner, this is not what we are working with in this poor mistreated model.    In addition to serious rust and corrosion to the steel sections of the infrared burner venturi, the brass of the orifice elbow is also corroding.

We are going to need to unscrew the orifice and elbow in order to remove the burner.  Obviously in the tutorial video instructions shown above, we replaced this with another orifice elbow but if you are able to keep your orifice and elbow, just get the burner out and keep your connections for the new burner.

Note the new elbow attachment connects the gas line to the burner and the orifice is in the tip with a lot of extra room for the fuel to pull in oxygen as the fuel pressurizes the burner.  Yes, it is supposed to be like this.   Also, note the bolt which is just in front of the orifice — this is the bolt and nut we used to support the infrared burner in the back wall of the grill.   We used a short bolt so the physical size does not affect oxygen and fuel flow into the burner.

Infrared rotisserie burner installed in Dynasty bbq grill does not have thermocouple or safety valve. Burner heats quick and hot.

Once we have a gas line attached with the proper new infrared burner we are ready to turn on the new infrared rotisserie burner.   Most barbecue grill rotisserie valves have a safety valve solenoid with a thermocouple which is designed to only allow gas flow when heat is detected.   This safety feature ensures gas will cease to flow to the rotisserie if the flames blow out — important in a fireplace and in fire pits but expecting a rotisserie infrared burner to blow out ….  With several decades experience to draw from I have never seen this or spoken with anyone who has experienced this safety problem possibility.   Fortunately for this installation the Dynasty infrared rotisserie burner gas controls are connected to a simple valve instead of a safety valve assembly.

With the simple gas control valve connected through the orifice into the burner, the new infrared burner works perfectly in the Dynasty gas grill.
