Fireplace Chimney Termination Cap Spark Arrestors are available in manu sizes. Even though the chimney cap is coated with a thick black outdoor paint the metal is fabricated of galvanized steel. Galvanization is a treatment process that treats the outer layer of the steel so the metal does not oxidize -- does not rust. Galvanization makes the termination cap perfect for outdoors. In addition to the treatment the caps are also coated to a thick outdoor enamel paint to keep the cap from being scratched through and exposing the metal to the weather.

This old Termination Cap on top of the chimney on top of the roof of this home has a hole in it. The cap is rusting badly and will have more and more holes if left alone. The chimney cap has to be almost totally airtight where all the seams come together in order for the pull of air to be effective. This is a triple-walled termiantion which means this cap pulls out heat, arrests sparks moving through the flue and sucks-in cool air along the outer opening around the flue.
This is a universal adjustable chimney termination cap. Like the caps shown above this will fit a variety of flue sizes and designs. This termination is the replacement of the damaged termination in the left picture on this page.
Using the hardware included start the bolts through the mitered corner holes and slide the cap over the masonry chimney. Tighten the bolts evenly to push against the masonry chimney firmly. Strong winds are the most common ways to damage termination caps so make the bolts tight.
If the Chimney tile extends more than .75 inch or the inner metal flue extends from the roof the chimney cap will not be able to tighten using the hardware included. Use the LK4 leg kit and slide each leg bracket through the lance in each corner. Tighter the bolt to hold the chimney cap to each leg bracket. Use the leg brackets in the four corners of the termination cap to push down and into the chimney or into the flue. Once all four brackets are in the chimney tighten the legs to hold the termination cap in place.
