Most of the replacement cooking grates for Sunbeam gas barbeque grills are either made of steel or cast iron. A few cooking grids are stainless steel and these are going to last much longer than the others without much attention to cleanliness.
Porcelain enamel can be glossy or can have a matte finish. Often the matte finish will be mistaken for cast iron without any enamel but the enamel is there and it is there because cast iron can rust very quickly with grease or humidity affecting it.
To get the most life time from your gas bbq grill replacement cooking grates, clean the grids. Clean after every use if possible although no one ever does that. At the very least close the hood of the barbecue and allow the heat to clean the grates after every barbeque. A few times a year remove the grates from the bbq grill and spray them with an effective degreaser to break down grease build up. After leaving the degreaser for a few minutes brush the grates with a grill brush but brush them softly and lever scrape the grates. As soon as the porcelain enamel or chrome is scratched the steel or cast iron will start to rust.
